Keratin Lash Lift vs Lash Perm

Updated: Jul 20, 2019

If you want your lashes to stay curled without having to stand in front of a mirror every morning with eyelash curler and mascara in hand, then you’ve probably looked at semi-permanent solutions—but with so many different types of eyelash extensions, lifts and perms around, how do you which is which?

It's information overload out there, so today we'll explain in black and white what a keratin lash lift is and what a lash perm is, and how they differ. You can read about eyelash extensions here.

Keratin Lash Lift

This is the latest beauty trend that’s taken over the beauty landscape. A keratin lash lift, also known as Yumi lashes, does exactly what it says—it lifts individual lashes by gently curling the lashes with the support of curved silicone forms and by applying keratin, a fibrous protein that forms the main structural constituent of hair, at the roots of lashes. The result is a safer, longer lasting lash enhancement that shapes lashes into an elegant curl from the roots up, making lashes appear lengthier.

The keratin lash lift formula is hypoallergenic, non-toxic, and devoid of harsh chemicals including paraben and formaldehyde, making it the healthiest lash enhancement solution. At Lash For Ever, our keratin lash lift treatment takes 45 minutes and costs $85.

Lash Perm

A lash perm also curls the lashes, but this old-school process uses cylindrical rods, which doesn’t give lashes that boost, so while lashes are still curled, they can look shorter unless you already have super long lashes. It also drenches the whole length of lashes with perming solution, which isn’t healthy for lashes and can make them look frizzy or ‘overdone’.

Low Maintenance, Long Lasting & Safe

A keratin last lift is a popular alternative to eyelash extensions, and we 100% recommend it over a lash perm. Lash extensions cost about the same as a keratin lash lift, but lash lifts last twice as long, so at the end of the day it's all about your preference. Lash lifts offer a natural length and curl, while lash extensions offer length, curl and that 'lashings of mascara' look.
