Are you a bare faced beach babe, a simple makeup gal, or a perfectly contoured beauty queen? Whatever your style, you can count on customized lash extensions to enhance your daily look. The best thing about them is that there are so many different types of eyelash extensions in various lengths and thicknesses, so you can go as natural or as dramatic as you want. This means they can be worn with or without makeup and look flawless every time. At Lash For Ever we offer Subtle, Medium, Full and Glamour in silk and cashmere.
If you're wondering 'are eyelash extensions makeup?' then you're right, technically they are, but they're semi-permanent so you don't have to apply and remove every day like you do with other makeup. While this has lots of perks, it does mean that you need to treat your lashes with a little extra care. The type of makeup you use, the way you apply it, and the way you remove it can affect the longevity of your lashes, so if you want to wear makeup with eyelash extensions, take note of these simple tips to protect them and make them last even longer.
How to Wear Eye Makeup Without Damaging Lash Extensions
You can still wear shadows, liners and even mascara with eyelash extensions, but they need to be water based (not oil based) products, and you need to be gentle with the application and removal. Oil based makeup can loosen or remove lash extensions, so make sure your lotion, makeup remover and anything else that goes on your face is free from those usually nourishing oils! Also try to avoid waterproof makeup as it's harder to remove, and you want to be as gentle to your face as possible — always, but especially with lash extensions on.
When it comes to mascara, personally we don't advocate it because with lash extensions it already looks like you're wearing mascara, and it doesn't do any good. But, having said that, we know some of our clients are itching to create an even fuller look. If you're in that boat, choose an oil-free and non-waterproof mascara that's specifically formulated to be used on eyelash extensions, such as Nouveau Lashes Enhance Mascara (it's cruelty free too!), or another option is to use normal mascara on just your bottom lashes.
Shadows and liners should also be oil-free and non-waterproof, and if possible, use powder instead of cream or liquid, as those can tug on the eyeline. Also, we know summer's approaching and the festivities will begin, but try to avoid wearing glitter on your eyes as those tiny particles can get trapped between your lashes and will be a chore to clean!
Love Your Lashes
Whether you're wearing makeup with your lash extensions or going au naturel, you should also be using a clean lash brush to comb out your extensions every morning and after getting them wet. Lash extensions have a tendency to criss-cross, so gently brush them out to avoid tangles.
